The Swallow
March 2024
‘The Swallow’, a setting by Judith Ward of poetry by John Clare shortlisted recently in a competition organised by the Voces8, will be performed by the Thames Consort in Dorchester Abbey on 3 March.
The Sunday afternoon concert also includes one of Bach’s most substantial motets: Jesu meine freude, a beautiful meditative work based on a Lutheran chorale.Â
’Cellist, Judith Dallosso, plays a sonata by Vivaldi and these two composers are combined in Bach’s sparkling organ arrangement of Vivaldi’s A minor concerto.Â
Alongside the Baroque are a group of motets by Anton Bruckner (1824-96) , whose anniversary falls this year.
