VOCES8

Delighted to have been shortlisted in the 2023 VOCES8 Composition Compition with The Swallow. The judges considered over 600 entries for the 2023 competition. The winner was Luke Mayernik for his piece The Lamb inspired by William Blake's famous poem.

VOCES8 are a Grammy-nominiated vocal ensemble with a mission to inspire people through music and share the job of singing. Entrants were asked to create a new unaccompanied choral work, no more than four minutes long, scored for eight voices, setting a public-domain English text of the composer's own choosing. The entries demonstrating 'sensitivity in responding to words, a distinctive musical style and fluency in writing for unaccompanied voices'.
